You've Been Given the Gift of Life, Give it Back!

Welcome friends and family!

Thank you for visiting my blog. It documents my amazing journey from pre to post double lung transplant. I am a 37 year old mother and wife with Cystic Fibrosis who has been more greatly blessed than I could ever imagine possible!

It has been a bumpy ride, but God has given me strength, love, friendship, and, FINALLY, health. My prayers have been answered, my miracle was granted, and I want to share the joy of my new life with you.

If you are a first time visitor, please take a moment to watch The Miracle of Transplantation video below. To me, pictures speak a thousand words.

My entries begin in April of 2008 and my double lung transplant was December 10. Scroll down to my blog archive and you can read from the beginning or jump around. If you are looking for a specific topic, you can use the search engine.

Please feel free to contact me with questions or feedback, I would love to hear from you!

I hope I can help you to experience the love God has for each and every one of us!

May God Bless You with Miracles in Your Life! Nancy

Current Activities

Hello!  I wanted to share with all of you what I have been up to.  Jason Dunn (former lead singer of Hawk Nelson) and I have started a foundation, the Jason Dunn Diabetes Foundation (www.jasondunnfoundation.com) with the goal of raising awareness and money for children and young adults with diabetes.  In order to do this, Jason has been on the road playing a tour called the "Plays for Change" tour.  We have been receiving donations of change at each stop and have already raised quite a bit of money for the foundation.

Our hope is to be able to begin providing grants to diabetic youth under the age of 25 to assist them with medical bills that are not being covered by insurance.  It is such an exciting and worth while venture and I feel blessed to be a part of it.

Here is a video documenting our tour so far!

My love to you all!  Nancy

What An AMAZING Trip Home this Summer!

We had the best trip home this summer.  Perhaps the best thing about our trip was re-connecting with my best friend of forever, Debbie!  I haven't seen her in several years and it was so much fun hanging out with her children and husband.

Hannah had the opportunity to join the club of us who had jumped off String Lake Rock!

What a BRAVE girl!

We made this little friend on the beach.

Here we are, enjoying an evening at my parents house together.

I just loved Debbie's husband Jack.  I am not sure he knew what to make of me! ;-)

Hannah has always wanted to go horseback riding in Jackson, so she and I took an incredible private trip way up in the Gros Ventre.  It was beautiful!

Don't we look just like Cowgirls?

Hannah and my mom at Jackson Hole Ski Resort

Hannah has an awesome Grama and Granddaddy!

Hannah took a hike up the mountain aways, then ran all the way down.

When we got back down into the Village, Hannah played in the water.

The three generations!

Our final morning, my parents' neighbor stopped in for a visit.

THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE HOME! <3

Some Exciting Life Developments

Hello friends!

I am sure by now many of you have been wondering, "Where on earth has she been?"  And that is a legitimate question.  The last six months, in many ways have been an exciting blur!

For those of you who have read my book, you know how I feel about God bringing opportunities into our lives.  There is no such thing as coincidence.  Many times, sequences in life lead us to God's new goals for us.  Well, God told me to strap in and hold on tight, and so I have been!

As you know, my girls' group hosted Christian artist Jason Dunn for two shows in our area.  Our family really fell in love with Jason, and there was an instant bond.  Scott and I both decided to bring Jason back this fall and I started planning a big youth event.  I figured that as long as I was bringing him here I should book a few more shows for him.  The more I did, the more passion grew in me.  Before long, Jason invited me to become his booking agent.

I am having so much fun in this brand new (volunteer, I will not take any money for serving others, as many of you know) position.  I want to let you all know about the fall tour we are planning.  Jason will be playing to raise money for the American Diabetes Association.

Jason was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of twelve.  He is now passionate about not only finding a cure, but also being a positive role model for children and young adults who are coping with the disease.  We will be asking people to donate their spare change at each show, and Jason will match those donations.

If Jason is coming to a city near you, I hope you will consider coming to support him.  All of the tour dates are available at my new website www.eosliveevents.com .

I also wanted to share our promotional video with you.  I am so proud of all that Jason is doing and am thrilled to be a part of the team who is making it happen!  Blessings to you all!  Nancy

Help 2 Students with CF Win $20K College Scholarships

From now until September 11, 40 exceptional students with CF will compete for public votes to help them win one of two scholarships totaling $20,000 – one for an undergraduate student and one for a graduate student – in honor of the 20th year of the Scholarship program. These 40 students have already each received a $2,500 CFCareForward Scholarship, based on their outstanding academic records, creativity, and ability to serve as role models in their community.

Spread the word! Right now is the perfect time to vote, as college students are packing up to head back to school (and back to those tuition bills!). Everyone is invited to help ease the financial burden for an exceptional student with CF by voting for the undergraduate and graduate student he or she finds most inspiring.

There are three easy ways to vote:

  1. Online at www.CFCareForwardScholarship.com
  2.  By text message at 23000
  3. Via toll-free phone numbers at: 1-800-262-0077 (Thriving Undergraduate Student) and 1-800-892-5566 (Thriving Graduate Student)
As a former recipient of a CF Scholarship, I know how important it is to support these amazing programs.  Please take the time to vote!

Thanks!  Nancy

The Cave Explorers

Hannah had an Irish Dance Competition right outside of Hershey, PA in June.  On our day off, we did some cave exploration, mining for gems, and of course checked out the delicacies at Hershey Park!
