Last night Hurricane Ike BLEW through Western New York.As I lay in bed listening to the wind whipping outside, my heart went out to those in Texas and the South who continue to be hit year after year with these strong hurricanes.
Having family and friends in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas, I know the hardships these horrible storms cause.
We lost the top of our beautiful Hickory Tree last night in the storm and it was very sad to look out and see the damage this morning. I can only imagine what it must be like 
to return to a community that has been ravaged by a hurricane or tornado, or to wake up the morning after and realize your home is gone.

That tree was so gorgeous before the storm. I can't believe you have a view of that every day of your life! Amazing. New York is such a beautiful state. We drove through it back in 2000 and I was amazed at how beautiful the scenery was. It's easy to just think of NYC when thinking of your state but there is so much more!
Thanks for sharing. I saw the news reports today on the storm and it just looks devastating. I can't imagine facing something like that and keeping your family safe. After Hurricane Katrina, I think we all have a better understanding of what happens and what people go through in these terrible situations.
