You've Been Given the Gift of Life, Give it Back!

Welcome friends and family!

Thank you for visiting my blog. It documents my amazing journey from pre to post double lung transplant. I am a 37 year old mother and wife with Cystic Fibrosis who has been more greatly blessed than I could ever imagine possible!

It has been a bumpy ride, but God has given me strength, love, friendship, and, FINALLY, health. My prayers have been answered, my miracle was granted, and I want to share the joy of my new life with you.

If you are a first time visitor, please take a moment to watch The Miracle of Transplantation video below. To me, pictures speak a thousand words.

My entries begin in April of 2008 and my double lung transplant was December 10. Scroll down to my blog archive and you can read from the beginning or jump around. If you are looking for a specific topic, you can use the search engine.

A Sunny Day

Hello friends!

I am sorry I have been out of touch. I spent the weekend trying to recover from this latest setback. I am still very tired, but my spirits are up and I know I am healing. I have been struggling with swelling again. In the hospital my face was huge with water, but now that I am up and moving around it is concentrating in my feet and ankles. We went to Walmart last night and by the time I got home my feet were enormous and killing me, but right now, I'll take that happily over the other concerns I have been facing.

I am kind of moving in slow motion today, but it is beautiful out (cold, but sunny), so I am loving just sitting in the living room and soaking it all up. I am so looking forward to Spring when I can get out of the house for walks, watch all the flowers pushing up and looking magnificent, and just enjoy the fresh spring air. We heard the peepers a couple of nights ago and that is always a sure sign of Spring!

I wanted to ask a special favor. My friend Cammi is still waiting for lungs in Pittsburgh. She has had a couple of false alarms, but needs the real thing. They are facing some difficult decisions about whether or not to double list at UPMC and Cleveland. Please say some extra prayers that they will get their miracle soon and that God will guide them to the right location. She is a very special woman and is needed by so many! Thank you!

I hope your day is sunny, I send my love! Nancy

Oh Nancy,it is so good to know you are feeling better!! What a difficult week you had in Pittsburgh. We didn't know how sick you were.

God continues to answer our prayers for your healing and strength.

I am glad you see positive signs for spring - nothing like flowers, sunshine, and birds singing to improve your spirits!

You, Scott, and Hannah remain in our thoughts and prayers daily. Cammi also remains on our prayer list. Our love to all of you.

Hi Nancy!

God sure does work in wonderful ways. As I was praying at daily mass today, I suddenly felt this urge to go light a candle for you and for Cammi. I think God was telling me that Cammi is in need of some extra prayers and although I pray for her daily, I felt He called me today in His home to pray extra hard for her and her family.

I am glad you are slowly on the mend and enjoying your first signs of spring. Enjoy every moment and take time to heal and get better.

We love you all and are so proud of you! Hang in there, my dear! Please know that Cammi is being kept close in our prayers and our thoughts too. We sure hope God will grant her the miracle that you have been blessed with!

Love to all,

Debbie

So great to hear you enjoyed the sunshine today Nancy. It certainly was a glorious day! I can't wait to enjoy the flowers too! It's so close!

Sorry to hear of all the troubles you are having. Hope this finds you continually getting well more and more each day.

Will keep your friend Cammi in my prayers as well. Wishing her the same miracle you have shown can happen!

Thoughts, Prayers, and Love always,
Lara

Thank you for your sweet wishes, Nancy. And also to your dear friends who are generous enough to keep me in their hearts, as well. It means a lot to me to know that so many people are praying and wishing on my behalf. I keep hoping I will get the call and will not even have to make the decision about double listing! But, we shall see. ONE DAY AT A TIME, I remind myself.

So glad you are having sunshine! Doesn't it cheer the soul?! I can't wait until we are both germ-free so we can spend some time together - relaxing in the sun and enjoying our friendship. Thank you for always thinking of me. You are the BEST!
