You've Been Given the Gift of Life, Give it Back!

Welcome friends and family!

Thank you for visiting my blog. It documents my amazing journey from pre to post double lung transplant. I am a 37 year old mother and wife with Cystic Fibrosis who has been more greatly blessed than I could ever imagine possible!

It has been a bumpy ride, but God has given me strength, love, friendship, and, FINALLY, health. My prayers have been answered, my miracle was granted, and I want to share the joy of my new life with you.

If you are a first time visitor, please take a moment to watch The Miracle of Transplantation video below. To me, pictures speak a thousand words.

My entries begin in April of 2008 and my double lung transplant was December 10. Scroll down to my blog archive and you can read from the beginning or jump around. If you are looking for a specific topic, you can use the search engine.

Please feel free to contact me with questions or feedback, I would love to hear from you!

I hope I can help you to experience the love God has for each and every one of us!

May God Bless You with Miracles in Your Life! Nancy

Home from Pittsburgh

Hello!

I have a lot of updates to give you today. We returned from Pittsburgh last night. It was a good trip. We have decided that I was having a bad allergic reaction to the inhaled Fortaz antibiotic and that is what was causing me to feel so poorly last week. We have discontinued that for now and are holding on IV antibiotics to see if I will continue to feel better without breathing that in. Though my white cell count was elevated, I do not have pneumonia, thank you God!

There has still been no movement on the list. According to Dr. Pilewski, if I was 6 ft. tall I would be golden, but unfortunately, I need smaller lungs. At this point, we will not return until August, unless things change on the list.

Julie's surgery went well. She received three new organs: a stomach, pancreas, and small bowel. She was awake 5 hours after her surgery ended which is quite amazing. According to her mom she is doing well and I saw a picture of her taken yesterday.

Scott and I made our trip a celebration of our 12 year wedding anniversary which is tomorrow. We enjoyed our time alone, we haven't had much alone time in a while.

Finally, I wanted to share pictures of Hannah on her last day of school (with a brand new haircut, too!). She is now officially a 4th Grader, Oh my!

I am hoping I will have some pictures to share from the Music in the Park shortly. What a wonderful evening that was. I am not sure what the grand total raised that evening was, but it was a lot more than any of us expected. What a wonderful community we live in! More to follow on this later.

Love to you all! Nancy

Hi Nancy!
I am so glad that you and Scott got to spend some time together. Happy Anniversary! I still remember your beautiful wedding and being part of your special day. I thought Scott was so perfect for you and I still do!
So glad that you were able to come home as well. Thank goodness that you do not have to do the inhaled cat pee anymore! :) I hope your IV antibiotics give you an extra push and boost as you wait for your new lungs. Hang in there and know that you are very inspiring to many! I will keep your friend, Julie, in my prayers as well. I am so glad that God has given her a new chance of life and I hope she recovers nicely.
Don't ever forget how truly special you are to so many. You have touched so many peoples lives. Please know that I love you and I keep you close to my heart. All my best to you all!

Love you,

Debbie

PS Hard to believe your sweet Hannah is a 4th grader. She is beautiful and so grown up!
