You've Been Given the Gift of Life, Give it Back!

Welcome friends and family!

Thank you for visiting my blog. It documents my amazing journey from pre to post double lung transplant. I am a 37 year old mother and wife with Cystic Fibrosis who has been more greatly blessed than I could ever imagine possible!

It has been a bumpy ride, but God has given me strength, love, friendship, and, FINALLY, health. My prayers have been answered, my miracle was granted, and I want to share the joy of my new life with you.

If you are a first time visitor, please take a moment to watch The Miracle of Transplantation video below. To me, pictures speak a thousand words.

My entries begin in April of 2008 and my double lung transplant was December 10. Scroll down to my blog archive and you can read from the beginning or jump around. If you are looking for a specific topic, you can use the search engine.

Please feel free to contact me with questions or feedback, I would love to hear from you!

I hope I can help you to experience the love God has for each and every one of us!

May God Bless You with Miracles in Your Life! Nancy

Something to Consider...

Dear friends and family,

Tonight I would like to encourage you to think about becoming an organ donor if you are not already one. Until I needed lungs, I have to be honest, this was not something I spent much if any time thinking about. I recently checked my Driver's License to see if I had designated myself as a possible donor and was shocked to realize I had not. I immediately added this to my Living Will and made sure my family knew my desire to donate any organs or tissues that could be used if something were to happen to me.

None of us likes to think about this, because it means we have to acknowledge our own mortality, but the fact is, we are all going to die eventually. Do you have the courage to allow your death to change the lives of others? What a beautiful gift organ donation is and I would ask you to at least consider adding it to your license.

If you don't have a current Living Will, Power of Attorney, or Health Care Proxy, I would also encourage you to set up one or more. That is a gift you will give your loved ones to let them know your wishes if you are unable to speak for yourself.

I so appreciate you at least taking a moment to think about this option, it is a purely personal decision that only you can make.

All my love! Nancy

Thank you for your encouragement to others to become organ donors. You never realize how important this is until it effects people you love. Dick and I both have this designation on our licenses.

We think about you and your family and pray for all of you on a daily basis.

Hi to Mom and Dad and love to all of you!

Hi Nancy,
I finally have access to internet and I am so glad to hear that you are doing well. I have really missed checking in on you every day. You have been very busy the last few weeks! I am so glad that you are able to enjoy some wonderful time at home.

Chris and I have also made sure that we are donors on our licenses. We talk often about living wills and because of your encouragement, I hope to get that done soon.

Lots of love and hugs,
Amy

Hey, Nancy! That is a wonderful statement about the organ donation. I'm also an organ donor. In my line of work, you hear about wonderful stories of how organ donation has given a second chance to someone. It is amazing how the family of the lost loved one finds so much peace even in their grieving process, knowing that somehow their loved one still lives on in someone else. It's a sense of comfort that their loved one's death was not in vane. It's very beautiful, actually. So, that's why I became an organ donor. It's a beautiful thing to give the gift of life!
Love ya and miss ya!
