You've Been Given the Gift of Life, Give it Back!

Welcome friends and family!

Thank you for visiting my blog. It documents my amazing journey from pre to post double lung transplant. I am a 37 year old mother and wife with Cystic Fibrosis who has been more greatly blessed than I could ever imagine possible!

It has been a bumpy ride, but God has given me strength, love, friendship, and, FINALLY, health. My prayers have been answered, my miracle was granted, and I want to share the joy of my new life with you.

If you are a first time visitor, please take a moment to watch The Miracle of Transplantation video below. To me, pictures speak a thousand words.

My entries begin in April of 2008 and my double lung transplant was December 10. Scroll down to my blog archive and you can read from the beginning or jump around. If you are looking for a specific topic, you can use the search engine.

Please feel free to contact me with questions or feedback, I would love to hear from you!

I hope I can help you to experience the love God has for each and every one of us!

May God Bless You with Miracles in Your Life! Nancy

Facebook

Good morning!

Well, this morning I am down to 130 lbs., so obviously the extra Lasix is working. My hands are shaking something awful this morning, so I apologize if I make some typing errors.

My friend John encouraged me to set up a Facebook account because several of our high school classmates are there. At first I thought, how can I manage another website? But then one of my cousins invited me to be his friend and the only way I could was to set up my own account. I figured that must be a sign, so I did. Wow, the number of friends I have re-connected with is unbelievable! It has been so fun to go to high school friends' websites and see the pictures of them and their beautiful families! It has really made the last two days a lot of fun!

We also made a very exciting decision yesterday. I booked a room in Ocean City for Hannah, Scott, and me in July. Ocean City, MD is our favorite vacation place and I have not been well enough to go there since 2006. It was so exciting to make that reservation! What a fun thing to look forward to, a family vacation after three years. My next big reservation will be for a trip home to Jackson, but I am not sure when that will be.

We are hoping to go see Marley and Me today, but it will depend on how I am feeling. I'll let you know if we go.

One last thing, I am updating A Journey Toward Spiritual Peace with a crisper cover and an update about my transplant, so it will be unavailable for order for a couple of days.

I hope your week is going great! All my love and friendship! Nancy

Hi Nancy!

We are going to Jackson this summer and hope that you will be able to go as well. I can't wait for that tradition of ours to begin again! So much to look forward to!

Facebook has been fun! It is neat to see former classmates on their and to read about their families! Glad you are on there!

Hope you can get out and see Marley and Me. Enjoy your day and keep working toward your daily goals, one step at a time.

Love you Nancy!

Debbie

PS Yes, Britney got the puppy pack as well. I am having both kids share it so it was great! Thanks so much!

I think you'll have an awesome vacation at the beach---just sun, sand and reading lots of books sounds really good right now.

You're right, Facebook is pretty cool. Amazing how people change, eh?

Glad to see you are doing better every day. I do think of you often.

Much love,

Hi Nancy-
Glad to see that Hannah has the "ski bug!" You will definitely have to get her to Jackson so she can get a taste of Western skiing!
Rest and relax...continue on that road to a full recovery!

Hi Nancy,
That is so great. A vacation to is a wonderful thing to look forward to doing with your family. It will be here before you know it and you will be able to breathe in the wonderful salty sea air with your new lungs, it will be better than ever.

Glad your swelling is going down, sorry that shaking has replaced it. I am sure all the kinks in the medication will get worked out soon. Just keep in there!

As for Facebook, it's addicting isn't it! There are so many people on there, I think quite a few more than MySpace. It's fun to see everyone.

Can't wait until you go to Jackson. I would love to meet you there! We can throw that big "New Lungs" party!!

Hope you are having a pain free day today!!

Lots of love and hugs,
Amy

Hi Nancy,
Although I have not posted anything I have been following your transplant story since Deb sent me your website some time ago. I'm so excited that your prayers were answered and you have received your new lungs! It sounds like things are going well for you. We recently had a great family friend in Montana undergo a kidney transplant. Although I don't think her journy has been as difficult as yours, you're right a transplant patient endures so much post-transplant. It amazes me how much I have learned about transplants by helping her out post-surgery and reading your entries. What a medical miracle they can do such things these day. Anyway, take care, and ya never know maybe I'll see you in Jackson too one of these days!
Love, hugs and prayers,
Stacy (Ridgway) Hoehn
