You've Been Given the Gift of Life, Give it Back!

Welcome friends and family!

Thank you for visiting my blog. It documents my amazing journey from pre to post double lung transplant. I am a 37 year old mother and wife with Cystic Fibrosis who has been more greatly blessed than I could ever imagine possible!

It has been a bumpy ride, but God has given me strength, love, friendship, and, FINALLY, health. My prayers have been answered, my miracle was granted, and I want to share the joy of my new life with you.

If you are a first time visitor, please take a moment to watch The Miracle of Transplantation video below. To me, pictures speak a thousand words.

My entries begin in April of 2008 and my double lung transplant was December 10. Scroll down to my blog archive and you can read from the beginning or jump around. If you are looking for a specific topic, you can use the search engine.

Please feel free to contact me with questions or feedback, I would love to hear from you!

I hope I can help you to experience the love God has for each and every one of us!

May God Bless You with Miracles in Your Life! Nancy

No New Infection

Hello friends,

The good news is, I do not appear to have an infection currently, my white blood count is within normal limits. My Hemoglobin and Hematocrit (red cell counts) are low because of all of the bleeding and are causing my already anemic body to feel pretty poorly. If I continue to struggle, I may need a round of IV iron, but we are hoping things will resolve on their own. My doctor has continued me on the IV antibiotics, we need to keep my lungs infection free so I will be able to be transplanted if another set of lungs becomes available.

I was recently tagged by one of my new friends and though I am not sure who to tag next, I thought it might be fun to participate, I don't often get to just be fun and silly here.

Here are my random or weird facts, things you may not know about me:

1. I used to sing in Scott's rock band before I got pregnant with Hannah (and I absolutely loved it!).

2. I was the President of my local New Kids on the Block fan club (MANY years ago, though I do think it would be a real kick to see them now.).

3. My friend Amy and I were in the "Lay Your Hands on Me" Bon Jovi video (though you would have to know where we were in the crowd to see us).

4. I have a not so secret crush on Johnny Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls and have seen him in concert 4 times. (Don't worry, Scott is well aware of this crush, just as I know about his crush on Meg Ryan).

5. I think I like the High School Musical movies even more than Hannah does and can't wait to see HSM 3 (it comes out this Friday!).

6. I LOVE to have my feet tickled!

7. Although many of my favorite inspirational songs seem to be by country artists, my favorite music is new alternative rock. I am particularly fond of female artists like Gwen Stefani, Kelly Clarkson, Katy Perry, Avril Lavigne, Evanescence, Kate Nash, and Paramore.

I hope you are all doing well and having a good week. We actually had snow last night and today, not enough to stick, but Hannah sure was excited!

Love to you all! Nancy

Hi Nancy!

Glad there is no infection! I hope they can give you some iron to boost your system and get you to feeling stronger again real soon! Hang in there!

So, I did not know you were the President of your local New Kids on the Block fan club, but I do vividly remember YOU making me dress up as one of the "boys" and lip syncing in front of our junior high school. How on earth did I ever get talked into doing that?! All I know is that is was never boring being with you...you always knew how to have fun and we sure did! I will always treasure those times!

I look forward to you getting new lungs and enjoying more wonderful times with you in the near future. Keep your eye on your goal Nance and keep the faith!

I love you!

Debbie

Nancy,
That is such good news to hear of no infection, however that doesnt help your body physically feel better. I hope you have a good rest of the week and are able to have some good days. I got your book yesterday, thank you so much. I am excited to be able to sit down and read it.
Thinking of you,
Susan

WOW!!
A Bon Jovi video... the NKOTB Fan Club President... singing in your husband's rock band... you're more musically influenced than one might initially think!!!
LOL
That was TOO FUN! Great random facts- thanks for playing "tag"!

I'm glad you don't have any new infection- we'll keep praying it stays that way so you'll be ready to go- but I do hope your iron comes up or you can get some help to bring it up.
Good to hear Cammi's safely in Pittsburgh also.
Thanks for all the updates. And I forgot to say when I tagged you, but congratulations on the new book!

God Bless,
Jennifer
