Ann and I are just back from an extended time with Nancy. She is very hot and very thirsty, but until they remove the tubes from her throat, there is little can be done to
alleviate her thirst. We put a cold washcloth across her forehead and eyes to help cool her down and she communicates by writing things down on a clipboard with paper and pen attached. Kevin, the nurse monitoring her says she may need to remain on the respirator for a couple more days until all the fluids drain out of the tubes inserted in her chest cavity. This is a normal process that differs from one individual to another and a lot depends on how rapidly the new lungs adjust to their new environment.
Xrays look good and she is on 30% oxygen right now. All in all, things look good and she seems more comfortable this evening than she was earlier in the day.
We'll get in another visit later tonight and unless there is some dramatic change I will not update again until tomorrow, so no news continues to be good news in this case!
Signing off for now!
